FIA is filled with men that are insecure about their dick sizes, meaning they chose this particular racer (one convinced racing should be gender segregated) to a very important position.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
This story reminded me of something J !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
Now, I think this is crazy, they could just phone Sabine Schmitz who is awesome. Who would’ve you chosen to this position?

I think Ursula Wirth and Ewy Rosqvist are still around (the latter definitely)- a little older now, but they’ve seen a thing or two behind the wheel:

Yeah! all very good choices, definitly better than the one the FIA chose.
my issue is that, having these great options and choosing the worst is just screaming that you’re mysoginistic.

They’d probably be better off without this type of “ambassador” at this point. It seems like kind of a pandering idea.

What’s the logic behind the statement that Jorda is literally “the worst” person to enable women in FIA sports?
I mean, it could’ve been Tamara Ecclestone.
I get it, she’s probably not THE best candidate and asserting right at the start that F1 needs a women’s league is definitely controversial (at least without some data to back it up), but it could’ve been some FIA yes-man’s wife or daughter.

I wonder what president-of-the-commission Michčle Mouton has to say on the matter

I’d respect what she thought if it was a good argument, but maybe Jean Todt wouldn’t for very odd reasons.

Perhaps I exagerated, it could’ve definitely been worse

Simona de Silvestro is young and relevant.

She met the bare minimum requirements to be taken as a serious candidate. Emphasis on bare minimum. Just nominating a woman wouldn’t have worked since they easily could’ve been dismissed as “not a racer” and Jorda has “F1 experience” so it stands to dismiss other drivers such as Simona De Silvestro or Katherine Legge who are hard fighting competitors at top levels of motorsport buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut they aren’t “F1" level drivers while Jorda “is”.
That to me is the insult - that Jorda got a hell of a chance despite being consistently awful because she is a literal model and has never done anything meaningful with her driving career but has everything thrown at her. Say what you will about “pay drivers”. Most of them at least win something on occasion. And the two drivers I mentioned will easily thrash the typical enthusiast in a straight up race using an average single seater or a spec touring car. It’s what happens when driving is kinda your job . But once again, the model that masquerades as a racer gets the position that should go to an honest to god racer.

Michele Mouton would like to have a word with many of the men in the FIA....Specifically, she’d like them to do a ride along with her. And she wishes them luck.

Yeah it could have been Ivanka Trump, it fits since she is in a family full of people totally unqualified for their jobs!

Simona would be my choice. I’d love to see her back in IndyCar. That woman is tough, and can really wheel a car.

I think its an issue that has many ways of solving (definitely changing the culture and actually embracing & promoting motorsport across all genders.) and the solution might lie elsewhere, but I’d rather see someone working towards a playing field with women than no one working at all.

She was a Group B rally driver in the 80s. Specifically, she drove the original Quattro rally cars and then the Quattro sports as they evolved. She is literally among the top pantheon of drivers.

There’s definitely something that can be done - what that is, I don’t know, but this seems shallow. Perhaps an “ambassador” who will really serve as more eye candy isn’t going to change much.
![]() 12/09/2017 at 00:42 |

Yes, it does boil down to that (specially due to the person nominated) but here’s to hopeful change in how motorsport works...

It’s a cool thought, but I suspect in 25 years (should we still be around), not much will have changed. This move certainly won’t make it happen.

the only people worried about “dick sizes” are the people constantly commenting about dick sizes.
Just sayin’.

Christina Nielson or Catherine Legge - you know, women who aren’t afraid to mix it up with the big boys and actually win things.
